Okay– let’s get real for a moment. Money is scary. It can be downright terrifying.

No matter how much we have or the stuff we buy, we live in fear of losing it. Paycheck to paycheck lifestyles happen at every income level; creating a house of toothpicks ready to crash any moment.

Even if you’ve squirrelled away some hefty savings, the fear of losing your money can control your life. And if you’re craving the freedom of being your own boss, that fear can amplify.

Launching a business is an investment– but money itself doesn’t have to be spine-chilling. Money mastery isn’t about being rich, it’s about how you manage the money you have. Once you’ve mastered money and feel empowered with it, everything changes (including your path to success).

Here’s how:

Step 1: Become The Money Boss

Financial empowerment starts with understanding that money doesn’t control you– you control it. It’s an exchange of energy, flowing to and from you. But before it can feel this simple, you need to take charge. You must set an intention that you’re the boss of your money.

The first step? Change your view:

Instead of saying, “I can’t afford that” or “It’s too expensive” ask yourself how much money you have available, and how much you can allocate to the goals you have. This simple shift is profound– you’ll stop feeling out of control and start feeling empowered.

Because it comes down to this: how much is your dream and your life worth? Everything! So work towards that!

Step 2: Make A Plan

Yes, it sounds boring, but nothing will settle your nerves and make you feel like a badass more than knowing your budget. Because no matter how much money you have, you can’t maximize its potential without a vision and strategy.

But don’t trap yourself in a common myth– budgets aren’t limitations. They give you complete control over the flow of your money so you can do the things you want.

Think of it like this:

If having a lucrative soul-driven business is a car, then money is the gas to get you the freedom you crave. If you don’t know how much gas your car needs, you’ll end up stuck on the road to nowhere.

Plus, you’ll set your own pace and know when it’s time to add more gas!

Step 3: Be Flexible

The Universe throws challenges our way, and sometimes your money will need to be used for something unpredictable like an emergency. Save a little extra money to have a wiggle room if something comes up– nothing feels better than knowing you can face anything coming your way.

Follow the rule of 10: save 10% from your income every month and put it towards your freedom (T Harv Ecker has a very good money management system I strongly recommend. Use it and you will be on your way to financial freedom).

Step 4: Invest In Your Future

Once you have a good understanding of your money, it’s time to plant your business seeds so it grows your money and success.
